Exhibiting Status intake, September 2026
Maximum Items10
Decided ByJuried panel

Exhibiting membership is what makes an artist eligible to enter FCA juried exhibitions, and it is granted by a jury of your images rather than bought. This is the September intake for two-dimensional work.

HOW IT IS PROCESSED: applications are gathered into an intake and juried together after it closes, roughly twice a month depending on demand. You will hear your result by email within two weeks of the closing date.

ELIGIBILITY: join the FCA as a Supporting Member first, and hold a membership valid to the end of the current year.

WHAT TO SEND: ten images. Exhibiting Status is granted when the jury believes the majority of them could reasonably be juried into an FCA exhibition, which in practice means at least six of the ten. Choose the strongest examples of your current body of work, cohesive in subject or medium, rather than a survey of everything you can do.

THE FEE: $15.00 in Canadian dollars, non-refundable, covering all ten images.

ACCEPTED MEDIA: acrylic, oil, watercolour, pastel, mixed media, graphite, ink, pen and pencil. Original hand-pulled prints are eligible in editions of up to 200. All work must be two-dimensional. Not accepted: photography, digital artwork, giclees whether hand-modified or not, sculpture and mechanical reproductions. Sculptors apply to the Exhibiting Status of Sculpture intake instead.

IMAGES: JPEG only, and nothing is converted for you. At least 1500 pixels on the longest side at 300 ppi, 2000 recommended, 24-bit colour or better, under 24MB. Crop so only the artwork shows, with no frame, border or background, and keep the colour true to the original.

JURYING: your images are reviewed independently online by three Signature (SFCA) members. Nothing is shipped; this stage is entirely online, so please do not send artwork to the gallery.

IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL: you pay the $30 upgrade fee, the difference between Supporting and Exhibiting membership, and your Exhibiting Status package is emailed to you.

IF YOU ARE NOT: you are invited to a free feedback session over Zoom with a Signature juror, and you may re-apply after six months with a different body of work.

COPYRIGHT: reference photographs must be your own, or an amateur’s with their express consent. Substantive use of stock images or a professional photographer’s work is not permissible, even with permission. Work made in courses and workshops cannot be submitted. Anything that appears to infringe copyright is rejected.

Submissions close at 4:00 pm Pacific on the closing date. Need help? Phone the Federation office on 604-681-8534.
